But everyone can get hosting for free.  I think the main thing is the free doain.

The thing is though, even if you are a registrar a domain will cost you 6 dollars. So if 1000 people join just for the domain you will be out $6000, now what if you get big and 2000-3000 people join each week? You could go bankrupt real fast.

But advertisers will be lining up to advertise if you can get 1000 domains per wk. Just look at the number of visitors you will have.

i have offered free hosting in the past, never offered free doman names though.
i don't think thats a good idea, due mostly to the cost of being a registrar and the
legal minefield that exists when you offer to register a doman name for someone.

when i give a free account, all i have required is my rules are followed and the
web site has an English version. i have never required forum posting, (probably
why my forums are dead....lol) or forced advertising banners. some of the sites
i host have voluntarily given me a link back to my home page.

yeah, if you can take the risk of providing webspace for free, i dont see how giving a free domain could hurt.

But if you are planning to provide hosting with a free domain, I strongly suggest that you have authority over the domain name. So that, customers wont signup just to get the domain and leave.

yeah, but thats the way the package should be in order to have control over the members.

why would you want to "control" your members?

if you register a domain  name, you own it. but, you registered it for someone else to use. they develop the website and it becomes quite successful, but you still own the domain name, are you prepared to surrender it to them? some hosts are just plain crooked and there may be problems with who actually owns the domain name.

are you going to pay for these doman names out of your pocket? cheap way to go..
or maybe become an ICANN accredited registrar? very expensive.

either way your paying out money that you may never recover and end up owning doman names that you probably have no use for.

paying for someone elses hosting is one thing, buying there domain name for them is another.

STILL NO SPELL CHECK HUH?

See, I am only giving my suggestion. I know that its not a good idea to control members. But, if you want to create a business, you wouldnt want people just using your services without you benefitting anything from it.

If people relly want the domain name for free, they will have to be permanent members, or pay a certain amount if they want to move out later.

10 times the prices for the domain if they want to transfer the domain in their property,
