I use phpbb which I find good. What does this forum use? What does everybody else use? What one do you think is the best? I don't really know much about the others so I couldn't say what is best but phpbb is certainly good.

My favourite? SMF. Phorum is a good and extremely fast forum software as well. I actually wanted to use Phorum for this site, but there were so many complaints about the lack of icons and bland layout that I changed to SMF. Someone posted this in site5 forum. http://www.big-boards.com/statistics/

What are you guys nuts? Lol just kidding but my opinion is that phpbb2 is the best, if you stay up to date your not as likely to get hacked. I spend a lot of time in the phpbb support forum and from what I've seen, most people that get hacked are quite a few versions behind on updates.
Perhaps I like it so much though just because I know the code so well, I'm working on a couple of new MODs right now for it.
The first is an addon for a bot indexing MOD which is basically a spruced up SID removal mod with a powerful bot detection and logging. It's for identifying the search engine spiders so they can view your site without the session id.
Well my addon allows for displaying the bots by name instead of by guest in the who's online box in the admin panel and the index page.
The second one is a link manager and hit tracker I call it Easy Links, it allows you to add links in the footer on the index page, view forumpages and viewtopic pages or all three and specify a url for a reciprical link if one exists, it has a user interface in the admin cp similar to the one in a Wordpress blog.
The hit tracker will be used to monitor all pageloads and store the pageload and referer information in the database, the output in the admin cp will seperate that information and output the data.
Data output will be unique pageloads, traffic recieved from reciprical link exchanges, traffic from other links like search results, and traffic with no http_referer meaning someone probably typed the url into their browser.

In my opinion, I love your opinion! I love smf software the best now. I used phpbb for so long and didnt even realize smf existed until I went on an old host's forum for support and seen it was SMF, clicked on the footer link and well SMF is all I use to this day why do you like SMF so much? I enjoy it alot because of the childboard features. In my forums, I like alot of boards and the childboard feature makes it easier for navigation

Hehe all I see around are phpbb forums. Well my favourite is punbb.org I find this little software the best. It is stable, fast and beautiful to skin. Now I now you like phpbb but did you ever consider what will happen if your forums become big. Well You will have to mod it big time to handle all those members. I made a test and phpbb was not handling requests as good as punbb so you know for what I decided. Also punbb with 1 hour work is better and more powerful than phpbb. Just check for some bigger phpbb boards and ask the admins what they had to do to handle the pressure

i like phpbb but I hate adding mods to it. Just too many file edits have to be done.

RC2 is indeed very good. Great improvement compared to RC1 or older.
