It traps SE spiders. Frames are not very Search Engine friendly.

thanks for the info both of you.
sacx, you sadly aren't the first, some linux users are having trouble viewing the site, we are still trying to figure out why, sorry about that!

Should depend on the browser instead of the Operating System right?

I would tend to aim that way, but I just noted the majority of people having trouble with the site were Linux users, so that's where our search is aimed.. We can't keep linux users out

Linux user base is still fairly small. I would focus on getting your site working on varying screen resolutions.

it has been decided higher than me that the site would work only a specific resolution... but i'm constantly pushing to have it work for everyone...

Sounds like a really silly idea by management. They will miss out on business like that.

I know, I don't really understand it. Of course having the site up for the majority of people is a must, but I always think getting to work for everyone once the majority is set up is the best way to go.

Especially as it makes you look unprofessional, and most of your customers will be tech so they will notice.

yeah well they started noticing, I now know there was an issue code wise with scrollbars and that's why they were removed. But i'm actively putting pressure to put them back on, it's well worth it.
