I think that it needs a little more color. There is to much white for me. Also that ad seems a little blatant to me. I would try to use something that blends into the site better.

Well I would say a little more colour as well.

Logo is nice.
But my suggestion is to have less advertisements till u site gets more visitors and members.
So that it will be less distracting.
